Welcome to Flint Knapping Art! My name is Steve Holloway. Living in the Western Panhandle of Florida, it's a lonely day searching for rocks around here. I started knapping back in May 2005. Searching through numerous eBay listing I ran across a few auctions alike and all charity, donated points and labeled as to who made them. With amazement, I noticed one was from my local area. I immediately emailed the seller for info on the knapper. Turned out the knapper lived less than a mile from my home. Winston Burnham is his name, I guess he is to thank for bringing me so much misery since the day he gave me the tools and my first lesson. I struggled all night to make a point! Since then its been an addiction. I have been able to meet and make some friends through knapping these last few years. I've traveled to a couple Knap-Ins where Ive been exposed to rock buying and some super fine knappers. I know my Dad would pick on me for buying rocks! I'd never hear the end of that! I have been studying Deep South Point types, Florida and Georgia, cultures and styles since. Truly amazing how a Native American sat down with no more than a hammerstone, sandstone abraiders, maybe an antler and made some of the finest artifacts to date. Well I'm after that quality, so come see me as I progress! | ||||||
